Weekender: Art and Music Together; Mural, Jazz and a Valentine

Welcome to the �鶹��ý Arts Blog as everyone prepares for the President's Day weekend and Valentine's Day. There is a lot of great art and music, as well as cinema, in store. And you can get ready to paint a mural on campus — a project that lets anyone be an artist. I leave you with a Valentine box of candy. It's porcelain, but oh-so-real down to the untouched paper cradles. I also consider it a Valentine tribute for a wonderful �鶹��ý alumna and artist who died this past fall, Sandy Shannonhouse. She left us so much beauty.

The �鶹��ý Gorman Museum of Native American Art Celebrates 20 Years of Photography

More than two dozen Indigenous artists from North America, Aotearoa and Australia from a diversity of backgrounds will be represented at the Gorman Museum of Native American Art’s new exhibition at the University of California, Davis. “Reflecting Lenses: Twenty Years of Photography at the Gorman Museum” opens Wednesday, March 6.

The pieces are highlights of the Gorman photography collection alongside new works on loan from several artists. The exhibition runs through Sept. 1

The �鶹��ý Gorman Museum of Native American Art, newly reopened this fall in a larger venue than previous years, offers Native American- made and sourced gifts. They specialize in art cards from across North America by known and emerging Native American and First Nations artists. They also offer blankets, throws and pillows from Eighth Generation and Totem Design House; cards and basketballs by Trickster; balms, salves, soaps and lotions by Medicine of the People and Bison Naturals; notebooks and journals;
