Music (and More) to Our Ears for 20 Years

The San Francisco Symphony will launch the Mondavi Center’s 20th anniversary season, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, almost 20 years to the day after the orchestra performed for the center’s formal dedication.

The opening follows a preseason warmup by “Weird Al” Yankovic last Saturday (Sept. 24), appearing in a sold-out Jackson Hall.

HEALTHY UC DAVIS: Stigma, Decisions and Drummers

A webinar is set for Thursday (Feb. 22) about ending stigma surrounding mental illness, and March will bring a workshop on “Honoring Your Health Care Decisions” and a new Well-Being Ticket Deal (to see Yamato: The Drummers of Japan).

Also, for those of you signed up for the next Gentle Lunchtime Yoga series, take note: The start date has been pushed back a week to Tuesday, Feb. 27. Registration opened in January, and the class is full. The new dates are Feb. 27, and March 6, 13 and 19.

The Staff and Faculty Health and Well-Being Program announced a “Preventing Diabetes” class and a new series of Gentle Lunchtime Yoga, and, as it’s almost the first of the month — your Well-Being Ticket Deal for February!

“Preventing Diabetes: Living Healthy” — 6-8 p.m. Monday (Feb. 5), Hoagland Hall, presented in partnership with �鶹��ý Health.

For Your (and Our Students’) Health and Well-Being

A survey is coming this week to all faculty, staff and students, asking for their opinions on �鶹��ý’ Smoke and Tobacco Free policy. Plus we have news about free flu shots and the first Well-Being Ticket Deal of the year.

Also, “gatekeeper training” is being offered to faculty and staff to help them assist students with mental health concerns.

The Well-Being Ticket Deal is back — an opportunity for staff and faculty members to get seats for $10 for selected shows at the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts.

The first deal is for Dorrance Dance, a tap-dance company, Sunday, Oct. 29. Seven more offers will be announced monthly the rest of the year.

Free Show Precedes Alan Cumming on New Date

Updated March 21: The Mondavi Center added a third Corin Courtyard Concert, March 31, then canceled the March 21 Corin concert due to the strong possibility of rain. The March 31 Corin concert will precede the Alan Cumming show, “Sings Sappy Songs,” in Jackson Hall — a show that has been rescheduled from March 30.
