As the leader of a remarkable group of individuals responsible for communicating and marketing on behalf of 鶹ý, I’m pleased to launch this blog to document our collective commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility and inclusion. Each of us in the Office of Strategic Communications will take a turn writing about our DEI actions and what we’re learning along the way.
July 27, 2021 - 5:49pmTanya H Perez/news/danas-blog-intro鶹ý Study Reveals Why Sharing Data Between Tech Rivals Can Be Winning Strategy

In today’s data-driven economy, firms typically guard their data as a crown jewel of competitive advantage. But new 鶹ý research suggests that, under certain conditions, the smartest move may be to share that data — even with rivals.
September 10, 2025 - 9:45amKaren Michele Nikos-Rose/news/uc-davis-study-reveals-why-sharing-data-between-tech-rivals-can-be-winning-strategyAccess Granted: Coding and Crafting Accessible Content

When most people, myself included, hear the phrase “online accessibility” they usually think first of including someone with visual disabilities.
As 鶹ý strives to welcome students who reflect the rich diversity of the state and beyond, we need to hire and retain faculty and leaders who can respect differences, honor collaboration and foster an inclusive environment.
January 14, 2022 - 10:47amTanya H Perez/blog/dei-documenting-the-journey/why-we-ask-for-DEI-statementsUnderstanding That Communities Are Not Monoliths

When I started at 鶹ý several years ago, I understood what it meant to find good-quality images for a website — how those images should reflect the content, and how they could elevate it and engage users. What I didn’t fully realize at the time was that the images I chose were a broader commentary on the makeup of 鶹ý and the microcosm of the culture here.
November 11, 2021 - 11:06amAnonymous/blog/dei-documenting-the-journey/diversity-of-web-imagesSTOO’-dents Leed by Ehx-AM’-pul

Aspiring writers are admonished from using rote expression. Sometimes this triggers tricky questions even for experienced writers. Remove “walking.” No meaning sacrificed.
October 28, 2021 - 2:43pmTanya H Perez/www.ucdavis.edu/blog/dei-documenting-the-journey/language-choice-not-exclusionaryAsk HR to Help You Hire
