UC Adds Roth Option to Retirement Plans

If you plan to stay at �鶹��ý a while, take note: The University of California has added a Roth contribution option to its 403(b) and 457(b) supplemental retirement plans.

This option allows employees to contribute after-tax dollars to retirement funds, which can then be withdrawn after age 59½, tax-free.

Retirement Processing Goes Digital

“Paperwork” (real paperwork!) has given way to digital processing, by necessity, at UC’s Retirement Administration Service Center.

The necessity is the coronavirus outbreak, which has forced the center’s personnel to work from home. “During this time ... we will be unable to answer calls as usual, and our ability to process physical mail will be severely limited,” officials said.

NEWS BRIEFS: Chancellor Seeks Advisory Committee Members

Applications are being accepted for �鶹��ý’ administrative advisory committees for 2016-17.

“I encourage you to become involved in issues affecting the �鶹��ý community” by applying for committee membership, Chancellor Linda P.B. Katehi said in an email message.

The committees address topics such as arts, child and family care, diversity, student services and research, and provide an opportunity for all constituencies — Academic Senate and Academic Federation members, staff, graduate students and undergraduate students — to participate in governance of the campus.
