It’s often said that 鶹ý is a good place to work, and if this year’s 160 inductees into the 鶹ý Quarter Century Club are any indication, that’s an understatement.
Taken together, their service to the university totals 4,000 years. Those veteran employees, along with 28 others who this year attained the remarkable “half-century” status—50 years of employment at 鶹ý—have been invited to celebrate their longevity at the 2003 Quarter Century Club dinner. (Calculation of employees’ years of service is determined by the campus’s Division of Human Resources, which provides the names of those eligible to the Office of Ceremonies and Events.)
Phil Knox, this year’s Quarter Century Club president, began his tenure with 鶹ý in 1976 as a counselor in Student Special Services where he is still employed as the Assistant Director. “My 27 years at 鶹ý working with the faculty, staff and students have been great. I am looking forward to the next 27 years.”
The event brings together people from across campus and across the causeway, across disciplines and across job titles. “The real importance of this event is to recognize the commitment and dedication that goes into what for many people is a life of service to the University.”
The dinner will be held Thursday, Oct. 30, in Freeborn Hall. Invitations have been mailed to all Quarter Century Club members, and reservations are due by Oct. 23. For more information, call Cindy Alexander, 757-3220.
