Associate Dean of Undergraduate Academic Programs

J. David “Dave” Furlow, a professor in the Department of Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior, has been named the new Associate Dean of Undergraduate Academic Programs for the College of Biological Sciences. He will step into the role on July 1.

The position helps guide the college’s undergraduate academic mission, with responsibilities that include supporting curriculum, student success, experiential learning and the overall quality of the undergraduate educational experience. The role works closely with faculty, department chairs, professors of teaching, advisors and college leadership to strengthen programs that serve undergraduates in and beyond the classroom.

Furlow joined the �鶹��ý faculty in 1998 and has spent nearly three decades in the Department of Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior as a teacher, researcher and mentor.

Rosenfeld Chair in Energy Efficiency

, professor of design and director of the , has been named the Arthur H. Rosenfeld Chair in Energy Efficiency. 

The endowment helps the chair holder promote the mission to develop and commercialize energy-efficient technologies, teach future leaders in energy efficiency and conduct critical policy-supporting research.

Working closely with the California Energy Commission, utilities, industry partners and international research institutes, Suk leads initiatives that accelerate innovation, inform energy policy, and advance California’s decarbonization and resilience goals.

Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Education

Professor has been named associate dean of research and graduate education in the College of Letters and Science. In the position, Hill will facilitate and support cross-departmental and cross-college research initiatives, oversee contracts and grants, and develop mentorship programs to cultivate research expertise and collaboration among faculty. In addition, she’ll oversee graduate students and studies in the college.
